Painting Demonstration by Tony Westmore

Tony Westmore’s Painting Demonstration – 12th October 2016

Tony, a local maritime artist, came to Totland to give members of the WWPC a painting demonstration using Chinese White in Watercolours.

It is sometimes frowned upon to use white when painting with watercolours, but Tony showed us how it can help maintain vibrancy of colours and increase wash drying times. He started with a thin wash of white directly onto the watercolour paper. Then he worked into this with a selection of colours to create a dramatic cliff scene.

It was impressive what he could achieve in a short space of time and with a near vertical board!

Thank you Tony for an inspiring afternoon.
