Art Classes with the West Wight Painting Circle.
10 week painting classes
From Autumn to Spring members meet at the weekly painting classes to create their masterpieces in the warm, light hall of St Saviours Family Centre, Totland.
The classes are small (around 16 people) and generally led by a tutor who provides new ideas and ways of painting and drawing.
The Committee seek out Island based artists and tutors vary from year to year. This helps the class get fresh inspiration and learn new methods. The medium can vary from watercolour, pen & ink, acrylics and mixed media.
Past tutors have included:
We pay the tutors and in order to cover costs, charge for the classes by the 10 week term. A 10 week course costs around £50.
The hall has a kitchen for refreshments, toilet facilities and is wheelchair friendly.
You do need to be a member to attend the painting classes, so if you are interested please contact Mick for more details by email or phone 01983 761851. Or you can find an application form on our Member Downloads page by clicking here.
If you are interested in teaching any painting classes then please contact any one of our Committee members.
Full details of the classes as they are released can be found on our events calendar.
The WWPC also organise one day workshops.
For those unable to commit to 10 weeks of creativity, we also offer one day workshops.
These tend to take place in the half-term weeks (for example in October and February) and can cover a wide range of subjects and methods. Our aim is to provide a new experience for your artistic endeavours.
The venue varies according to availability so keep an eye on the events calendar to see where they are held. The Committee try to select places that have suitable facilities for disabled as well tea and coffee making.
As an example of the variety, for 2016/7 the one day workshops are on Mono-printing and Chinese Watercolour painting.
In the past we have had workshops led by both mainland and Island artists including:
- Chris Forsey – Painting in Acrylics
- Jill Roe – Pen and Wash
- Sally Pengelly – Mixed Media Still Life
- Angela Sowden – Monoprinting
- Diana Parsons – Paint and Stitch on Lutrador
We pay the tutors and in order to cover costs, a one day workshop costs around £20 for members.
